Kotor boasts year round interest and is well known for hosting numerous festivals. It is the main town in the Boka Bay region, sandwiched between the majestic Mount Lovcen and the sea. This walled city is one of the main tourist destinations in Montenegro; cruise ships arrive daily from around the world to its Marina and it therefore has a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Kotor is an old medieval town with churches, museums, Venetian architecture and the cathedral of St Tryphon which dates back to 1166. There are no cars within the town just cobbled streets and alleys.
Its beautiful Marina is located just outside its walls and hosts a daily market selling organic produce which in the evenings are replaced by stalls selling jewellery and trinkets, from here you can also watch the yachts and cruise ships sail in or take a boat trip yourself.
The bay of Kotor has the deepest fjords in the Mediterranean and is officially listed within the top 10 'most beautiful Bays in the World'. From within the Old Town are the steps up to the Old Fort where you will encounter the most stunning views of the bay. There are small beaches dotted around the bay or larger ones within a 10 minute drive or ferry trip, a vacation to remember.
